10-2-2013 7AM Welcome to Fall, seems like it was Summer one day and then boom it s Fall with temperatures in the 50s and 60s in the Mammoth Mountain area. 36 days and counting for Mammoth Mountain Ski areas planned opener. Opening day is set for November 7th, 2013. For some that day cannot come soon enough. If your in town enjoy these slow times and get out and hike, bike and fish. O and don t forget the Fall colors that will be peaking out the next 14 days. (If your not in town come on up for some Fall fun.) Mammoth Mountain Snow Report: We picked up a couple shots of some snow last week, 2-3 inches and then a dusting several days later. At this point most of its melted off, but still some snow at the top of Mammoth Mountain and up on Bloody Mountain as well. The ground is moist in a few spots, but on my ride yesterday most trails were back to having a dry surface. Again temperatures have cooled down to the 50s above 8500 feet, add in a SW wind and you need an extra layer. Summer day

Hike to Lake Barret & Lake TJ | Mammoth Lakes Basin, California
The Hike to Tj and Barret Lakes lies just beneath the Mammoth Crest and Crystal Crag in the Mammoth Lakes Basin at 9,293 feet. This high mountain hiking trail is a great place for a 3-4 hour session of hiking & exploring, add in lunch on the shore line and some fishing and you can make this a day trip. This hike takes about 30 – 60 minuets to reach Barret Lake depending on what type of shape you are in. Then it is a easy 10 minutes on to TJ Lake. You should consider this trail to be moderate in difficulty.

9-4-2013 7:16 AM Hello from Mammoth Lakes, California. Clear skies in Mammoth Lakes at this time. Today in we should see highs 68 77 with lows around 45 55. Winds in the area 5 15 from the south west with a 20% chance of thunders storms today. Winds over the next 36 hours are forecast to go from SW to West to north and then back to SW. That means we could see some smoke once again for 12-24 hours and then it blows out like it did last Sunday. Mammoth Lakes Events: September 4th 8th it s the Kamikaze Bike Games for both Road Bikes and Mountain Bikes. Along with the racing their is a bike fair set up at Canyon Lodge. The fair is open 9 5 daily, and later for the Friday Night Show from 6 9pm. The Village Gondola will be open for access to the fair as will the Mammoth Shuttle System. Right now it is also still prime time for Mountain Biking, Fishing & Camping in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, Hiking to Crystal Lake or to TJ and Barret. I can think of 100 other things to do as well. 9-3-2013 8AM -With Labor Day behind us it s now time to enjoy Fall and the change over from Fall colors to the white stuff. I don t know about you but this is a very exciting time. Fall is a great time to visit before it snows and take in some cooler and get a killer bike ride or hike in. Up on Mammoth Mountain crews are getting ready for the upcoming season and the Kamikaze bike game that start on Wednesday. There are some image below of the new snow making line they are installing off the face of 5 to the Half Pipe near the top of Chair 4. Snowman will be out on a hill a couple times a week checking out whats going on and reporting it here at the web site right up until opening day. Signs of Fall, some of the Aspens in the local area are getting some Yellow leaves. Expect the colors to start turning hard in about 3 weeks. 8-26-2013 8AM Starting to feel a bit like early Fall out on Mammoth Mountain. Some of the Aspens in the local area are even getting some Yellow leaves and it s not even September yet. Chatting with Weather Guy, he was saying maybe a early opener with a couple storms in October. Here in Mammoth Lakes, we see a few signs of a normal to above normal winter. One sign is we have very Large Fir Pine Cones. They are so big that they are stressing out the branches they are on. These cones are also dropping lot s of sap. More then I have ever seen. We have also had lot s of troughing of the west coast this August, Winters to follow always seem to be more wet then dry. Lol, seems like every year we start getting excited about the snow season earlier and earlier. For those with kids, maybe it s the fact that school starts a month earlier then when most of us where kids. That gets the sub concussion thinking opening day is not far off. 8-22-2013 – 10:07am Hello and thanks for stopping by the Mammoth Mountain Weather Guy web site. Starting today July 22, 2013 we will be updating this web site 3-5 times a week. Snowman will be doing daily updates from Mammoth Mountain. Starting in November you can expect two snowfall forecasts posts a week from The Weather Guy himself and daily posts from Snowman. Current Mammoth Weather has skies mostly cloudy at this time with a temperature of 74 at 8200 feet. We should see highs in the low to mid 80s once again today. Last night we had lows in the mid to upper 50s across the Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain Terrain. Expect more of the same lows thru the weekend.
